Why Does It Matter for the Exam?

  1. State link: Mallakhamb with Madhya Pradesh, Kabaddi with Tamil Nadu, Kho-Kho with Maharashtra
  2. Dates: Kabaddi at the Asian Games in 1990, Pro Kabaddi League in 2014, Kho-Kho World Cup in 2025
  3. Equipment and format: team size, pole types and the chanting rule
  4. Policy: Khelo India and promotion of indigenous sports
  5. Common errors: calling Kabaddi the national game, or placing Mallakhamb in Karnataka rather than Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh

As an analytical point, low-cost indigenous sports offer a practical route to mass participation, fitness and rural talent discovery. They need league formats, school inclusion and coaching standards so that revival is not limited to a few television events.
